Yeah, yeah, how could a DFW Chevy dealer possibly be talking about 2014 cars when we just entered 2013? Well, some cars get us so excited that we have to take a look at them even though they haven’t rolled off the production line yet. This car was also featured at the SEMA show in 2012 as it left everyone giddy in their seats.
So we’re taking a look at the 2014 Chevrolet Sonic. Taking the place of the Chevy Aveo, the 2014 Sonic combines great performance into a small vehicle that fits into the subcompact sedan and hatchback categories. Named the Sonic Dusk due to its ashen grey paint color (not bright blue after the video game hedgehog), car buyers will have the choice between getting the five-door hatchback or the four-door sedan versions.
Power can be found in the smallest forms, and the Sonic has such power with a 138-horsepower turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that comes in both six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmissions. Gas mileage is also ideal for this vehicle as you will get 40 mph on the highway when you drive it off the lot next year.
There’s no shirking on other features as you’ll have keyless entry, 18-inch aluminum wheels, 19-cubic foot trunk, black leather trimmed seats with suede accents, Mojave brown stitching, air conditioning, instrument panel accents and Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system. If planning on upgrading from the base model to the Sonic LT or LTZ, you’ll get power heated mirrors, power windows, six-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, USB connection and satellite radio.
What has taken the world by storm is the safety rating that the 2014 Sonic was given by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) and the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). Given five-star ratings from both organizations, the 2014 Sonic is one the the safest small cars for its size and price.
When it comes to the Sonic, car buyers will have sophistication and style in a compact vehicle. This appeals to many people who want to move away from the sporty appearance that many car makers have adopted when it comes to smaller vehicles. Sometimes, style and luxury fits a car buyer’s personality better, and that is what the Sonic will offer when sitting in the driveway.
So for people who are looking for safety, performance and luxury in a small size, the 2014 Sonic will certainly step up to the task. With all the positive reactions that Chevrolet received at the Sonic showing at SEMA, the car manufacturer is pushing to get this vehicle out as soon as possible to every Chevy dealer. So get your value in a small car as the Sonic will try to outshine other subcompacts.
If only 2014 would get here sooner so that we can see it for a little while on our Chevy showroom floor before buyers scoop up every single one.
