The Best BBQ Joints in DFW

If you just bought or leased a new Chevy from Classic Chevrolet and are looking for a great place to celebrate your new vehicle, visit one of these iconic DFW BBQ joints. From the slow-cooked meats to the signature sauces and homestyle sides, you can’t go wrong with a meal at any of these restaurants.

Heim Barbecue

What started as one of the hottest food trucks in Fort Worth has now become one of the hottest BBQ restaurants in the entire metroplex. Located at 1109 W Magnolia Avenue in Fort Worth, Heim Barbecue serves some of the best dishes around. Not only can you expect to find your favorites, like ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and sausage, but you can also pick up some dishes unique to Heim, the best of which are the bacon burnt ends, which you cannot pass up. Meals come on platters or on sandwiches and there are numerous sides to choose from, like coleslaw, pinto beans, green chile mac and cheese, and hand cut fries. Don’t wait too late in the day to drop in: Heim makes everything fresh daily and when they’re out, they’re out.

Shady Oak BBQ and Grill

A pleasant place to grab some grub, Shady Oak BBQ and Grill is located in north Fort Worth along Fossil Creek. With a big outdoor eating area situated on a great big green lawn and under a stand of trees, it makes for a wonderful atmosphere on a Friday night at the end of a long week, especially if there’s live music as there often is. The entire restaurant is built in and around a historic stone barn located at 6364 Sandshell Drive in Fort Worth and serves up hickory-smoked meats with all the fixins. It’s also a great place to go if you’ve got people in your party that aren’t in the mood for BBQ since the menu includes alternatives like catfish, burgers, and chicken fried steak.

Pecan Lodge

The Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum is the place to go in Dallas for great BBQ. Located at 2702 Main Street in Dallas, the Pecan Lodge has been serving up straightforward smoked BBQ for years. Besides the staples like brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and sausages, you can also try some of the specialties at the Pecan Lodge, like their Pitmaster sandwich (brisket, pulled pork, sausage, slaw, sauce, and sliced jalapeno) or the Hot Mess (a salt-crusted sweet potato topped with South Texas barbacoa, chipotle cream, cheese, butter, and green onions).

Car Accessories for Winter

Whether you just bought or leased a new vehicle from Classic Chevy or you have a newer Chevy and are not ready for something new just yet, you’ll want to add some car accessories for the winter. Some accessories protect your vehicle and some are just handy to have during the winter, especially if it snows around DFW (not too likely!) or if you head somewhere it will snow.

Floor Mats

You may have carpeted floor mats in your Chevy now, but during the winter, you should have rubber floor mats to protect the carpet from melting snow and slush on your feet. And, at some point, the snow and ice will melt, giving way to mud, which will eventually stain the carpets, especially if you have clay.

Ice Scraper

An ice scraper with a brush comes in handy on snowy mornings or even mornings that have a heavy frost. Instead of waiting for the defroster to melt everything, you can give it a hand by scraping the frost, ice or snow from the windshield. You’ll be ready to go by the time your Chevy warms up; and you’ll be safe because of better visibility.

Even if you park in a garage at home and at work, you should have an ice scraper and brush. If it starts to snow while you are shopping or parked elsewhere in an open lot, that brush and scraper will come in handy.

Plug-in Coffee Cup

The last thing you need on a long commute on a cold day is cold coffee, tea or hot cocoa. Instead of having your hot drink cool off too fast, get a coffee cup that plugs into the cigarette lighter so you have a hot drink all the way to your destination.

Come-a-Long

Most people don’t think of this, but carrying a come-a-long and some extra chain in the trunk could get you out of a bind. If you end up sliding off the road, you’ll be able to pull yourself out of the ditch. You can attach the come-a-long to a tree or another vehicle if someone stops to help you out.

Visit Classic Chevrolet

Be sure to visit Classic Chevy to test drive a new vehicle. Ask your salesperson about any lease or finance specials we may be running. If you’re not ready for a new vehicle because yours is only a couple year old, call our service department to set up an appointment to have your vehicle’s maintenance completed.

Get Your Chevy Ready for Fall

Whether you just bought a new Chevy from Classic Chevrolet or you have a Chevy that is a few years old, you’ll still need to get your vehicle ready for fall. You could get snow in late fall, so you should also think about getting your vehicle ready for some winter weather, too.

Exterior Care

Be sure to wash and wax your Chevy while it’s still nice. Washing the vehicle removes any dirt, grime and bugs that can eat through the paint. Putting a fresh coat of wax on your Chevy protects the paint through the rest of the fall season and the winter season.

Interior Care

Prepping the interior is just as important as the exterior, especially the carpets. Give the inside a good vacuuming. The fall and winter seasons will add more dirt and mud to the carpets and it’ll be difficult to get out if it builds up too much. And, even though the sun won’t seem as hot, it’s UV rays are just as damaging, so have the inside detailed and give the materials a coating of the appropriate protection, whether it’s vinyl, leather or plastic. And, remember to use the sun shields in the windshield.

Mechanical Care

Mechanical care is just as important that caring for the paint and interior materials. Have your service technician check your vehicle’s brakes, belts, hoses, tires and fluids. If something is leaking or worn out, it’s best to replace it now lest it leave you stranded in a snowstorm. Even if it’s not time for the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance interval, it’s a good idea to have your vehicle checked thoroughly.

Heat

Since it’s still warm, most people won’t think of this – but check the heater. If it’s not working like it was last year, you won’t be able to get your windows defrosted easily; and you’ll be stuck commuting in a freezing car. Be sure to check that all of the vents including the defroster works; and that the temperature and fan speeds work.

Visit Classic Chevrolet

Call our service department at Classic Chevy to schedule an appointment to have your vehicle checked and, if necessary, repaired for the fall and winter months.
