History of Camaro

2-26-2015-HistoryOfCamaro

For over a century, Chevrolet has designed many iconic cars that personify its spirit and style, and the Camaro is one of them. The first generation of Camaros debuted from 1967 to 1969. This hot four-seat sportster turned heads everywhere. It was GMs answer to the popularity of Ford’s popular Mustang. It features a short deck with a long, sleek hood. During this time period, there were only two Camaro models: the convertible and the sport coupe.

During the early 1970s, the Camaro saw little in redesign. GM focused more attention on interior comfort and offered air conditioning, power door locks and a half-vinyl roof covering. The year 1978 saw a minor redesign with T-tops and urethane body-color painted bumper cover. With its two-tinted glass hatches with an innovative T bar in the center, sales of the Camaro soared at Chevrolet Dealerships Texas.

By 1979, the Camaro family had grown to four members, including the Sport Coupe, Rally Sport, Z28, and the Berlinetta. All models featured bright chrome, special wheels and extensive acoustic insulation. In 1985, the Camaro was the chosen care of the International Race of Champions (IROC). This was also the year that the Camaro introduced its IROC-Z model with special graphics. The Camaro’s V8 now featured fuel injection.

Fast forward to today, and the Camaro is still America’s favorite sporty and muscle cars. The 2015 Camaro is the perfect mélange of cutting-edge technology, distinct design and bold performance. It’s what makes a Camaro a Camaro. Keeping in step with its heritage, the Camaro is still offered as a coupe or convertible. Find it in all models at Classic Chevrolet. We’re a Texas Chevy dealer proud to offer the legendary Camaro to Chevy fans who are looking for a sporty car that delivers unparalleled performance.

Top Adventure Spots in the Hill Country

Nan Palmero/Flickr Creative Commons

If you just bought a new vehicle or had your current vehicle serviced at Classic Chevy, it’s time to take a road trip to Hill Country. With a new vehicle or just-serviced vehicle, you don’t have to worry about breaking down and you can take a trip in comfort. Head out this weekend to smell lavender, mine for topaz, take a hike or even just go for a drive.

Take time to smell the flowers. Regardless of the season, you can drive out to hill country and see fields of flowers. To find the most beautiful blooms of the season, stop by any small-town café and ask the locals – they will be able to tell you what is in season and where to find it. Lavender and bluebonnets start blooming in May. Also, the Texas Department of Transportation Wildflower Hotline can help you find blooms. Call the Texas Department of Transportation’s Wildflower Hotline at (800) 452-9292.

Dig for topaz in Mason County – that is the only place you’ll find this gem. Topaz is clear or blue-tinted and are usually close to the surface near granite outcroppings in ditches or creek beds. You can hunt for all the topaz you want at Lindsay Ranch. For more information, call the ranch at (325) 347-0475.

If flowers and digging for gems are not exciting enough, take a hike to Gorman Falls. It’s along a wildflower drive – State 16 through Llano and Ranch Road 501 to Colorado Bend State Park. The hike is a 1.5-mile trek through some rugged ranch country. Make sure you have the proper clothing and gear – the last 100 yards is a steep, rocky trail that leads down to the falls. Gorman Falls is made of about six cascades that fall from a 60-foot limestone cliff into a grotto surrounded by fern and moss.

If the physical trip isn’t your thing, drive Scenic Highway 16 for the 30 miles through Hill Country between Kerrville and Medina. You’ll see ancient live oaks, yucca plants, limestone outcrops and more. Be sure to have your camera ready – and bring your patience with you. Not that there’s much traffic, but other drivers may be taking in the scenery at a leisurely pace.

Stop by Classic Chevrolet before you head out to make sure your vehicle is ready for the trip – or if you’re in the market for a new vehicle, now is the time to buy or lease.

The 2015 Chevy Silverado

aug-4-2014-silveradofeature

When the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado becomes available at Classic Chevrolet, you’ll find that it has been redesigned and features updated styling, a new double cab body style, an improved interior and new safety features. The 2500HD and 3500HD have been revamped with the same upgrades that the 1500 received.

Interior

The interior received better quality materials in the cabin, new safety features, bigger touch screens for hands-free phone operation and entertainment control, and a quieter cabin. The change in the double cab allows for more interior room – and it now has front-hinged doors for easier access.

Cargo Beds

The 2500HD and 3500HD give you a choice of bed sizes: 6.5 feet or 8 feet, though the regular cab doesn’t give you a choice – it comes with the long bed. The bumpers now have corner steps to make loading cargo easier. The truck also features a lower tailgate and some models have an EZ lift for easier access to the cargo bed.

Engine Choices

The engine choices are the same as last year’s, which means that you can get up to 397 horsepower and 765 pound-feet of torque in a diesel-powered truck. The 2500HD could haul up to 3,760 pounds and could tow up to 17,900 pounds if it is properly equipped with the right engine, suspension and towing equipment.

Options/Body Styles/Trims

Chevy is known for giving you many choices when it comes to trim levels. The 2015 Silverado 2500HD starts you off by letting you choose from a regular cab, double cab or a crew cab. Then choose whether you want four- or two-wheel drive. Choose the bed size; unless you chose the regular cab, in which case you get the long bed only.

Trim levels for the different body styles include the base Work Truck, the LT and the LTZ. The regular cab does not feature an LTZ trim level. The Work Truck features 17-inch steel wheels while the LT changes those out for alloy wheels. Additional features for the LT model include an upgraded tailgate, all power accessories, keyless entry, MyLink, voice controls, OnStar, Bluetooth and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
