When you are in the market for a new sports car, stop by Classic Chevrolet to test drive the new 2017 Camaro ZL1 convertible. Owning your own Camaro ZL1 convertible, you’ll be able to attack the highway at speed while feeling the wind whip by you. With new levels of refinement, technology, acceleration and capability, the new Chevy Camaro will challenge the most advanced of the sports coupes in the world.

The executive vice president of Global Product Development, Mark Reuss, said that the ZL1 was designed to bet the best of the best. With superb performance packed into a 2+2 coupe, the ZL1 is great for every day driving and for taking it out on the track.

The 2017 model year comes with a new 6.2-liter V-8 supercharged engine that puts out an estimated 640 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque. Buyers have a choice of a six-speed manual transmission with active rev matching or a brand new 10-speed automatic transmission.

Aerodynamics

The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 went through over 100 hours of testing on the track and in a wind tunnel so that the manufacturer could make the best aerodynamic body possible for fuel economy and cooling. Not only is the design functional, but it is stylish. The lower grille opening gives excellent airflow to help keep the Camaro cooler while at higher speeds. The upper grille incorporates an open bow tie insignia.

The Camaro’s new hood features carbon fiber insert with a heat extractor that allows hot air to be pulled from the engine compartment so that the engine is further cooled. Additional changes to the body include the rockers, a bigger front splitter, wider front fenders and a wing-style rear spoiler.

Technologies

The Camaro’s new technologies include performance traction management, magnetic ride suspension, an electronic limited slip differential, drive mode selection and a custom launch control. The Camaro also weighs 200 pounds less than the previous model year and has 60 more horsepower and 80 more pound-feet of torque, giving it a better power to weight ratio.

Additional features include 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires and Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers on the front wheels for extra stopping power. The front brakes also features large 15.35-inch two piece rotors.
