GM Dealer of the Year Once Again Goes to Classic Chevrolet
In 2001, General Motors created an award to recognize a select few dealers in the country for exceptional performance for sales, service and customer satisfaction, The GM Dealer of the Year award. The honor is reserved for only the top 2% of GM dealers by Region.
To no one’s surprise, Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine, Texas, has held the distinction of receiving this award every year since its inception, and 2011 is no exception. Tom Durant, owner of Classic Chevrolet, attributes this achievement to teamwork. “We’ve had a lot of challenges in the last several years and challenge is exactly what my team thrives on. Their ability to inspire and encourage each other translates to a unique and refreshing customer experience.” The emphasis on a positive customer experience at the dealership level is crucial to building and maintaining the Chevrolet brand. And dealerships like Classic Chevrolet who embrace the philosophy that fostering the relationship with the customer is more important than seeking a one-time profit opportunity, are successful in the long run. Classic Chevrolet’s success certainly cannot be disputed. For the 6th year in a row, Classic Chevrolet has outsold every other Chevy dealer in the country selling 28,426 new Chevys since just 2006. Being the #1 Volume Chevrolet dealer in the nation for the six consecutive years is an accomplishment never achieved before by any other Chevrolet dealer in recent history. “It’s very simple,” said Durant, “if you strive to be the very best you can, the future will take care of itself. ”
The future of Durant’s dealerships seems very bright indeed. He not only owns eight successful dealerships in the DFW area, he also owns two other large Chevrolet stores in Tampa, Florida and Sugar Land, Texas, both purchased three years ago. Stingray Chevrolet in Tampa and Classic Chevrolet in Florida also have been named GM Dealer of the Year for the second year in a row each and both Chevy stores share the same philosophy and culture as the Grapevine store. “I am extremely proud of my partners Don Kerstetter (managing partner, Classic Chevrolet Sugar Land) and Steve Hurley (managing partner, Stingray Chevrolet) for having set the bar high from the very beginning and maintained the level of professionalism and excellence that’s required to receive this award twice already.”
Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine, Classic Chevrolet in Sugar Land, and Stingray Chevrolet in Tampa will be officially recognized in a GM Dealer of the Year ceremony in Detroit scheduled for later this spring.
