Classic Chevy is the top-selling Chevrolet dealer in the nation, and this past Tuesday, April 1, we celebrated the grand opening of our natural gas fueling station, the first one to be owned by a dealership anywhere in the country.

The new station, Classic Clean Fuels CNG, has an ANGI Energy compressor system and one two-hose dispenser. Zeit Energy built the new public access station. The ANGI energy compressor at the station is designed for light- to medium-duty vehicles.

As reported in Fleets and Fuels, “As more and more Americans realize that freedom from dependence on foreign oil is a national priority, the viability of American produced natural gas has become forefront.” Furthermore, natural gas produced in America is not subject to the fluctuating oil and gas prices, world politics and OPEC.

You can expect to see the 2015 bi-fuel Chevrolet Impala sometime this summer. Currently, we promote the Silverado 2500 and 3500HD bi-fuel pickup trucks. We also have three-quarter-ton CNG vans. The pickup trucks have a range of over 650 miles.

According to Ken Thompson, founder of the Thompson Group, the Group has been committed to finding ways to help their business customers since 1978. He stated that one of the benefits of opening a bi-fuel station is that it allows its customers to be more competitive. Many of the Group’s customers are already planning to convert their fleets to vehicles that use natural gas throughout the next year. Not only will using natural gas give of fewer emissions, but it saves the businesses money.

Classic Chevrolet already uses six bi-fuel Silverado models to deliver parts in three states. Fourteen other CNG fuel outlets exist in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but this newest is the first dealership-owned station. Classic Clean Fuels also provides ethanol, biodiesel, and regular unleaded gasoline. Plans are underway to add a charging station for electric vehicles.

The new station is located next to the Thompson Group Commercial & Fleet building, just north of the Stone Myers Parkway exist on Highway 121.
