Chevy to Bring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to their Lineup!

When you test drive a new 2016 model at Classic Chevrolet, you’ll see that some models will have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Since the auto manufacturer wants to appeal to tech fans, 14 vehicles in its 2016 model year lineup will have these features.

You’ll be able to synch your iPhone or Android smart phone to the vehicle through Chevy’s MyLink infotainment system. Depending on the model vehicle, the infotainment screen is 7 or 8 inches wide and very easy to use.

Because you can burn through your data plan quite easily, Chevrolet offers the OnStar 4G LET plan so you can access the connectivity via the vehicle’s in-car WiFi network. Android Auto is centered around Google Now, Google Maps, WhatsApp,Google Play Music, Skype, podcasts, Spotify and the ability to talk to Google.

Apple CarPlay allows drivers to send and receive text messages, make calls and listen to music. Other apps supported include messages, phone, maps, music and some “compatible” apps from third parties.

You won’t be able to use the system do thinks such as Instagram and Facebook, as the system is designed to reduce distractions, not create them.
