Classic Chevrolet is at it again and this time we have a fundraiser that is near and dear to our hearts. Here at Classic Chevrolet we have employees who are veterans, and their family members and friends are currently serving or have served in our military. Everyone is connected to a soldier by some degree of separation. Whether it be your neighbor, your teacher’s dad, your Father, your grandmother or maybe even your dentist served in our military.
Do you know how many troops come home every day, month, and year with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), injuries, loss of limbs and more? There are so many lives that are affected by war and that’s why Classic Chevrolet wanted to lend a helping hand. Have you ever thought that you might be able to help someone just by buying a pair of boots? How many pairs of shoes do you own that have directly helped someone in need? Have you ever heard of the Boot Campaign? What about Marcus Luttrell? Check out this amazing story and how Classic Chevrolet is ready to get involved to help our troops returning home from war!
The Lone Survivor Marcus Luttrell with HIS BOOTS ON!
The Boot Campaign is a grassroots initiative started by 5 women from Texas known as the Boot Girls. They provide an easy and tangible way for Americans to show support of our troops (both past and present) that’s practical and directly benefits our military. Proceeds from boot sales are donated to partner charities, who assist returning veterans dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and varying degrees of physical injuries As Boot Girl Ginger so aptly said:
“…we’re not setting out to conquer the world. We just all feel the same conviction – to find a way to honor and say thank you to our military men and women for their service and sacrifice. We realize that we will never REALLY know what it’s like to be in THEIR shoes, and we will never claim to get it.”
That’s why the Boot Campaign motto is: When They Come Back, We Give Back!
What better way to say thank you to our troops than sporting a pair of boots just like theirs! So join in the growing chorus of radio, television, music and sports celebrities and get YOUR boots ON!
Former Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Troy Aikman with HIS BOOTS ON!
Classic Chevrolet is teaming up with the Boot Campaign to directly help the Lone Survivor Foundation by running a fundraiser on our Facebook page. The Lone Survivor Foundation was established in February 2010 by Navy SEAL (Ret) MarcusLuttrell, author of the NY TImes best-selling book, Lone Survivor. The vision of the Lone Survivor Foundation is to provide exceptional therapeutic, outdoor, and unique opportunities that optimize recovery and healing of affected American wounded service members and their families.
Here’s what Classic Chevrolet is going to do to help. For every new fan that we gain to our Facebook Page from 7/5-7/29, 2011 we are going to donate $1 to the Boot Campaign which will benefit The Lone Survivor Foundation. We’re calling it our Buck A Boot Campaign! We will also be giving away a pair of Boot Campaign Altama Combat Boots which are the exact combat boots that our troops wear everyday. We are also going to give away a Boot Campaign T-Shirt to one lucky fan. All you have to do is visit our Facebook Page and “like” us and then register to win. When you register you have 100 words or less to tell us about the soldier that is in your life. You’ll even have an opportunity to share a picture of your soldier for the chance to have your soldier be one of our soldiers of the week!
So will you join us in supporting our troops?! One last thing… Check out this video of Marcus Luttrell and Sherri Rueland talking about the Boot Campaign and what they are striving to accomplish. BE INSPIRED!

Ozzie Nader from Freeman GMC and Justin Norwood from Classic Chevrolet
If you can remember back in December we did a food drive at Classic Chevrolet for the North Texas Food Bank. We went head to head with our neighbors Freeman GMC to see who could gain the most amount of new Facebook fans and the most cans of food. Part of the rules of that competition was that whoever lost would have to go to the winners dealership and cook their staff food and wear the winners T-shirt. Well Classic Chevrolet won the competition and became the 2010 Champs in our Battle for Grapevine Food Drive.
Ozzie made good on his promise and joined Classic Chevrolet as our cook for the evening. He fixed us hot dogs and burgers. He even wore a Classic Chevrolet T-shirt while he cooked. It was a great time for our employees. The most important part of the whole contest was the almost 2,000 pounds of food that we collected for the North Texas Food Bank!
If you want to see all of the pictures from the BBQ head on over to our Facebook Page and check them out.
Have you heard the name of Grapevine High School Baseball player Chris Gavora? On Feb. 22, 2007 Chris Gavora and his Grapevine High School teammates were warming up for their opening game. Chris was pitching to a teammate when a line drive passed through openings in 2 cages and struck him in the head. Chris was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery but unfortunetly was unable to survive his injury. He died just two days later on Saturday Feb. 25, 2007. It has been a little over five years since this tragic accident happened and yet in our community of Grapevine, TX we hear this story over and over again as each new baseball season approaches.
The accident hurt every coach and player to the core, but what happened in the next few days couldn’t take the pain away but eased it more than anyone could have imagined. Just a week after Chris had turned 17 he was ready to get his license. He saw the option to donate his organs and didn’t think twice about it. His mother had told him that they should go home and talk to his dad about it but Chris said, “I know what it means, and I’m going to do it.” That decision saved the lives of six people, Brad Walker was on the verge of death from suffering with Cystic Fibrosis, he got Chris’ lungs. A 10-year-old boy in Arkansas got Chris’ heart. A 27-year-old male software engineer got his liver. A 54-year-old diabetic and father of four got Chris’ pancreas. A 14-year-old boy got one of Chris’ kidneys. A 29-year-old single mother got the other and attends nursing school.
Chris loved movies and reciting quotes from them. He loved music and playing the guitar, and was a New York Yankees fan. He liked going to the mall and playing video games. He shared a car with his twin sister, Catherine. And he loved baseball, which he’d played since he was 4.
For the 5th anniversary of Chris’ death we wanted to do something special for the Chris Gavora Memorial Scholarship Fund and the baseball teams of local rivals Grapevine High School Mustangs and the Panthers of Colleyville Heritage High School.
GHS and CHHS have two games they play against each other this season. The first game is on Thursday March 17, 2011 at Grapevine High School. The second game is on Friday April 8th, 2011 at Colleyville Heritage. As a Corporate Sponsor for the Education Foundation we will donate $1 for every new fan we gain to our Classic Chevy Facebook Page to the Education Foundation and those proceeds will be distributed to the Chris Gavora Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The second part of this contest goes like this….. It’s the CHHS VS GHS Baseball Battle! Come to our Facebook Page and write on our wall which school you support. You don’t have to be a student. You can be a parent, a teacher, a resident of Colleyville or Grapevine, or anyone. The contest will end on Thursday April 7, 2011 and the school that has the most support on our fan page wins the Baseball Battle! That winning team will be rewarded. On April 8 when CHHS and GHS hit the field it won’t matter who wins the game what will matter is how many runs are scored because the winner of the Baseball Battle on Facebook will get $25 per run scored to their teams booster club. So for instance if CHHS wins the Baseball Battle on Facebook but GHS wins the game 10-8 well CHHS will get a check from Classic Chevrolet through the Education Foundation for $450! The winner of the game will also get a special gift to be determined later. So as you can see both CHHS and GHS will come out as winners!! Let us know if you have any questions.
Don’t forget to visit our Fan Page and become a fan today. We’ll donate $1 per fan to the Chris Gavora Memorial Scholarship Fund. While you’re visiting don’t forget to write on our wall which school you support! Contest runs 3/16/2011 – 4/7/2011.

We’ve decided to have another Facebook/Twitter Meet Up to celebrate our victory over Freeman Grapevine for the Biggest Food Drive in Texas Canned Food drive we did. In case you weren’t aware we ended up collecting more than 1,200 pounds of canned for the food bank while Freeman collected only 896 pounds.
We’ve decided that since you the fans helped us in our victory that you should choose our location for the next meet up! So read up on your choices and when it comes time to vote make sure you make the right choice.
We may be your hometown Kilt location, but we’ve got all the charm of a quaint little pub in Scotland and all the energy of a raucous party in Texas. Whatever you want your Tilted Kilt experience to be, there are a few things you can always count on: ice cold beer and plenty of it, a mouthwatering menu full of the pub fare you love, a festive atmosphere full of fun and friends, and, last but not least…beautiful women eager to put a smile on your face and make you feel right at home.
