Last weekend, Chevrolet Racing renewed the brand’s fight against breast cancer at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. For each lap the pink Camaroran under caution, Chevrolet donated $200 to the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative. In 2011, 64 caution laps at Atlanta generated $12,800 for the American Cancer Society and this year, six caution flags produced 31 laps totaling a $6200 donation after the race on September race.
In GM’s official press release, Vice president of Chevrolet Sales and Service, Don Johnson, said “For our 100th birthday in 2011, Chevrolet began its support of the American Cancer Society, and the generous response from our dealers, employees and customers told us we needed to help the Society fight for more birthdays. At Chevy, we believe everyday heroes can accomplish extraordinary things, and it is in this spirit that we work to achieve a world without breast cancer.”
The weekend kicked off with 30 breast cancer survivors and their guests spending the day at Atlanta Motor Speedway and got to partake in Chevrolet Camaro SS pace car rides around the historic track with Jamie McMurray, the Team Chevy NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver, and Ron Hornaday Jr., four-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion. Danica Patrick also will visited with survivors for photos and autographs.
Jeff Chew, Chevy Racing Marketing Manager, said, “We are very proud to partner with the American Cancer Society, and carry the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer logo on the pace car. “Hopefully, the pink Camaro SS helps to remind race fans of all of the upcoming events in October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We all can do our part in helping in the fight against cancer.”
Chevrolet and its dealerssupport the American Cancer Society’s efforts to save lives by helping people stay well, helping people get well, and by finding cures and fighting back against breast cancer. Isn’t it great to know that you’re driving a vehicle whose manufacturer supports a cause?
Back in 2009, General Motors announced at the SEMA show that the famed LS9 engine – which was designed to live in the tight confines of theCorvette ZR1 engine bay – would be offered as a crate motor. Crate engines are ones you can purchase and place in any vehicle. However, they can be pretty pricey… which is why we haven’t heard of too many concoctions like the one I’m about to share with you.
If you’ve ever wondered what you’d get when you crossed a Chevy Silverado and an LS9 engine… wonder no more. A Houston-based tuner shop called Fastlane, managed to stuff this supercharged engine under the hood of a four-wheel drive Chevy Silverado. Though no one’s quite sure why, critics of all sorts agree that it doesn’t matter.
With at least 205 more horsepower and 169 lb-ft more torque that any factory engine you’ll be able to buy with the Silverado, this is bound to be one for the records. Fastlane recently revealed a video of exactly what this pickup can do. Enjoy Dallas Ft Worth Chevroletenthusiasts. I sure did.
As I’m sure we all know, street racing is illegal. Tempting if your cruising around in a Chevrolet Corvette, but still illegal. On top of that, it’s dangerous and can be costly. Don’t believe me? Well let me tell you a little story about these two Corvetteowners down in Houston.
On Thanksgiving day, a Houston man was driving home and happened to catch a sliver Corvette C5 and a silver Corvette C6 side by side at a light. Sounds like it’d be quite the scene to witness as both drivers revved their engines waiting for the light to turn green. However, this type of racing is better left off the suburban streets of The Woodlands. Being a former owner of fast sports cars, this guy knew exactly what was coming. And thanks to the wonderful world of technology we live in, he was able to record a video from his phone. Check it out.
Did you see that one coming, Dallas Ft Worth Chevy lovers? Luckily, only the Corvettes (and the drivers’ egos) were hurt. This is the perfect example of why racing is better left on the race track. A local news station down in Houston covered the story, here’s the clip:
Remember DFW, though it may be tempting to really drive that C5 or C6, don’t do it in the suburbs or on the streets. I’m not sure if you’re aware, but we do have a fairly large speedway out off highway 35 where you can really let her fly.
Hey DFW Camaro lovers, I have some exciting news. Earlier today, Chevrolet announced that its most-powerful convertible ever, the 2013 Camaro ZL1, will debut at the LA Auto show next month. According to a press release issued by General Motors, this Camaro will deliver more performance and technology than many exotic cars and ultra-luxury convertibles. I told you I had exciting news!
The ZL1 will be powered by a 580-horsepower LSA 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine, so I’m sure Camaro Chief Engineer, Al Oppenheiser, wasn’t kidding when he said, “This is a car that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face every time you drop the top – or hit the gas.”
The convertible will share all its characteristics and engine parts with the 2012 ZL1 coupe model which recently lapped the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife course in 7:41.27 minutes. The only changes we’ll see are a tower brace under the hood, a transmission reinforcement brace, an underbody tunnel brace and a set of X and V braces under the body. All of these are aimed at stiffening the chassis to better handle and apply all the power the LSA generates. Check out this video of the 2012 Camaro ZL1 at Nordschleife.
Are you getting excited yet? The ZL1 convertible will most likely be available for purchase in the late months of 2012. Until then, I’ll be sure to keep you posted on the latest updates!
This has got to be one of the most ridiculous videos I have ever seen. Why oh why would you be so reckless in your Chevrolet Corvette Z06? Do you not love it? Do you just want to wreck it? Cause let me tell you…. When you get into a fight with a tree the tree will win every time. Go ahead and watch the video and tell me that you didn’t see that coming from a mile away. I imagine that right after you finish watching it you will feel sorry for the Chevy and want to kick the driver for being so irresponsible. You tell me…. Would you drive your Chevy like that? Oh and there are a few curse words to kids beware!
I don’t know if you could call this the greatest drag race of all time but Motor Trend seems to think that it is…. or it could be. I will say this much… It was fun to watch 11 of the best “drivers cars” put to the test. According to Motor Trend the following 11 cars make up the best. I am more than happy that they thought well enough about the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 to add it to the list of cars equaling 82-cylinders, 5000 horsepower and the cost of 1.5 million dollars. So on that note… Check out the list in winning order and of course you should watch the race. I think it is fun to note that the Chevrolet Corvette comes out once again over a Ford. Tell me your thoughts!

I have lived in Texas all of my life and NASCAR is huge in Texas. I have been to countless NASCAR races out at Texas Motor Speedway and I’ve enjoyed every minute of them. Before every NASCAR race they have a pre-race prayer delivered by a local pastor. It’s usually a prayer asking to keep all the drivers, crews and more safe on the track as the race is going on. It’s a very quiet moment where for a minute or two everyone in the stands goes completely silent and listens to what the pastor is saying. We’re talking 100′s of thousands of people completely silent.
Recently there was a race at the Nashville Super Speedway, Pastor Joe Nelms of Family Baptist Church in Lebanon, TN gave us one prayer we will never forget. Not only did he thank the Lord for everything good in NASCAR but he even thanked the Lord for his HOT WIFE and a few more interesting things.
Take a look at the video below and tell me you didn’t giggle just a little bit. Personally I find it refreshing to see a man so excited to do a prayer for NASCAR, GM Performance Technology, and his Hot Wife! Enjoy!
I have to say this is one very hysterical video. You really have to give props to this mother. She was a total trooper. I don’t even want to think about how my mother would react in the same situation. I know I tend to put the petal to the medal as well. How would your mom act if she had the opportunity to ride shotgun with you in a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 while you were hot lapping around Seca?
Check out the video…. Enjoy the screaming. She’s hysterical.

I think most people know about my love for Corvette. It happens to be hands down my all time favorite Chevrolet. Seeing as I just got back last week from the 24hr Le Mans race I figured I better share this video with you of the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 taking a spin around Germany’s Nürburgring. Turns out our race time improved by almost 20 seconds. The 2012 comes stacked with a ton of updates. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. The drive is something else.
The Corvette ZR1 may be the bees’ knees, but there’s certainly a lot to be said about the mid-range Z06. For 2012, the Z06 gets a host of updates, and in order to prove the car’s performance prowess, Corvetteengineer Jim Mero took a brand new Z06 fitted with the Z07 chassis package to Germany’s Nürburgring, only to find out that it’s capable of ripping off a 7:22.68 lap time.
For those keeping track, that’s 20 seconds faster than the last Z06 record lap (set in 2005), and only three seconds slower than the fastest ZR1 time. Color us impressed. – AutoBlog
If you are like me than I am sure you are patiently awaiting the arrival of this new Corvette….. Ok, you can stop drooling now.
